I spoke with Carol Banks from Edgecombe Arts and was provided with a list of artists who have participated in the Arts Bazaar. I am gathering more names of ALL local artists (Tarboro, Edgecombe County, & neighboring counties) to compile a complete local directory of artists, artisans and craftspeople. Please send me names and contact infomation.

I've been talking with some of the other members of Grassroots of Tarboro, and we're tossing around the idea of using the front part (both floors) of the Marrow-Pitt building for the artists co-operative gallery and studio spaces. The building needs work, but where there's a will there's a way, and the location would be great. Not only would the space give local artists a spot to collaborate, but it could be another great way to attract folks to our town. Any ideas? Added input? Interest in being included?

Our immediate goal is to clear out the downstairs front section to 1) make the space more usable and 2) make it easier to see what needs to be done. Busy schedules make this only possible on Sunday afternoons (in preparation of Monday trash pick-up). Any volunteers to bag up and haul out trash? Just come by Sunday and join in.

Betty,

I think the art coop idea is wonderful! Other towns have proven that this type of thing can draw the "tourists". Tarboro is a perfect stop on the way to the beach, we also have the potential to be the destination. I would love to help clean out and get things going.

I will be be looking for local artists who are interested in hanging their artwork in the Main Street Cafe, complete with discreet price tags, if they wish. It will benefit them by giving their work some exposure, and it will benefit us by beautifying our walls. :-)
If you talk to any artists that are interested, please point them in my direction!
