Tarboro's Web Presence
I've said this before, and I'll say it again.
I don't think Tarboro needs to hire an expensive firm to redesign the town website and market Tarboro on the web, not yet at least, but I do think a few little inexpensive changes to the town website would make a big difference in how "outsiders" view our beautiful town on the web.
First step, PLEASE remove the FL**D information link from the front page of the town website. I'm not going to spell out that nasty word here because I no longer want it to be associated with our town. Every time I visit the town website, I cringe. All I can think is "what a terrible first impression that must make to people seeking out information about Tarboro."
We don't need a big marketing firm to get our online presence in order, we simply need someone here in town to keep things up to date and provide changes and notices in a timely manner. There are dozens of people in this town that could do that.
If they who make decisions in town want some help with this, they know where to find me.

Betty, I'm really glad you revisited this topic--my lovely and talented wife, Daphne, had a fantastic slogan/positioning statement idea for Tarboro, and I just had to share it with the community.
A good slogan for our town should answer the $64,000 question, which is, "why should you come to Tarboro?" The answer? "We're here."
Imagine it--on the Web, on TV commercials and in magazines--representatives of our town with their smiling, inviting faces, maybe with a quote talking about why they love Tarboro and saying "We're here!"
Let the idea marinate for a bit, but I think it has real potential--what do we say when our friends ask, "why should I come to Tarboro?" "We're here!"
Funny you should mention this.... I just received a comment to a different post from a local videographer who wants to be involved.
I can see it now, the same assortment of folks who make up the Grassroots of Tarboro, old faces, young faces, black faces, white face, families, single people, each one representing what's good about Tarboro and saying "I'm here!", and "We're Here!"
I think you and Daphne are on the right track!
