Our First 2nd Saturday
I know that I'm biased but I think our first Tarboro's 2nd Saturdays event was a beautiful success. It may not have matched a professionally-organized (and funded) festival event, but it brought loads of people to downtown Tarboro. They were on the street smiling, laughing, shopping, eating and having a great time.
I've uploaded random photos from the day's events. Thank you Kim McGinnis for photos of Tarboro's Town-wide Tag Sale.

I know that since we moved downtown in January 2008, Saturday was our best day ever & we did more business in that one day than in any month prior! Thank you for all of your hard work & making this happen! God Bless!!!
Congratulations Betty! If any yard sale claims they had more business in the past compared to Saturday, I would be shocked. If any business claims they didn't have their best Saturday in a long time I would be even more shocked! I think the comment from a very lovely young lady sums it up best, "There haven't been this many people downtown on a Saturday since the Tobacco Exchange opened 30 years ago." AMEN!
Wow ! What a fun day ,and a good start for putting Tarboro on the map as a day-trip destination. The music was inspiring and the food choices yummy . I'm so glad to see businesses thriving downdown . We've got it all right here in this pretty little town ! Thanks to the organizers of last Sturday's event. ( The town should add you all to their pay -roll.)
I'm finally get around to saying thank you for the first of hopefully many Second Saturdays. I live in Durham and am dating someone in Rocky Mount, and found out about Second Saturday on this website, so I insisted that we check it out. I didn't get everywhere I wanted to, but we had a great vegetarian lunch from the natural health center, saw the play which was wonderful, and had dinner at On the Square after a drink at the pub. A wonderful day, I'll be inviting friends next time. Keep it up!!
